Candytuft 2021

Floral hotline installation.

Do you feel suffocated by your last tinder date but don’t feel like ghosting just yet?

Are you not at all convinced by your friends new business idea, but can’t really say it to their face?

Are you scared of conflict but feel the need to tell someone politely, to fuck off?

As experts on the flower language Candytuft can get any message across. By packaging a hard message into a textile bouquet you soften the blow, and also don’t need to work up the courage to face conflict - Candytuft delivers the message for you!

Candytuft is a combined installation and textile design concept developed for Southern Sweden Design Days, by Ebba Lindgren & Maria O’Brian. Candytuft’s creations borders the cute and the brutally honest.

During May 2021, Candytuft had a hotline to which you could call and request a message. The messages where translated into floral patterns using Floriography - the victorian language of flowers.

The hotline-stories and messages were turned into a collage-styled textile installation in an old Flower Kiosk in Malmö.
