2021 & 2023, It's Versailles all over!
Loosely inspired by asymmetric rococo curves — historically incorrect, but just as decadent.
Expressive shapes to lure the self-proclaimed royals, and up-cycled materials to soothe the self-conscious consumer. Also, an hommage to my teenage favorite film Marie Antoinette by Sophia Coppola.
Really Rococo
I made 1:1 sketches first hand-drawn on cardboard, cut out, assembled, and refined before being traced digitally for CNC production. I played with curves to create striking contours from the white core, to create a look that’s simultaneously outrageous and practical.
The material is called Really Board, a pink textile fibre board from Kvadrat and Malmö Upcycling Service. It’s made of recycled off-cuts from garment and furniture industry, and worn out sheets from industrial laundry.
The rugged nature of the material distinguishes these pieces. It combines soft textile qualities with precise edges, enhancing the sensory experience.
The puzzle-like assembly benefits from the material’s friction, allowing objects to fit together tightly without screws or glue.
Really Rococo I

It was also chosen for Adorno’s exhibition “Proximity” in 2022, showcased at Lokstallarna, Malmö.
